I've been meaning to do this for a while, over the past few months I've watched a whole bunch of shows that have been pretty good but not as popular as the heroes/pb series so i thought i'd throw them out there if people are bored and looking for something to download. Surprisingly most of these are very good and worth your time!
Breaking Bad
Breaking bad is about a science teacher who leads a very simple life, and is looking for more to do to but can't break his routine of conservative work. Diagnosed with a terminal case of lung cancer he teams up with one of his flunked ex-students to get out there and make a fast buck designing drugs, combining his apparently flawless chemistry knowledge with the street knowledge of the student they setup a meth lab and begin dealing. The story follows the process of them getting some street cred and make serious money whilst hiding from police officers who are also relatives.

Extras
An older series that i personally have missed but quite simply the best comedy ever created. Fronted by ricky gervais of the office fame this comedy follows an aspiring actor looking to make their big break. Every episode features a real hollywood star like samuel jackson, kate winslet or patrick stewart. The characters and acting is just flawless and gervais sticks to his winning formula of quality over quantity producing only 12 regular episodes and a Christmas finale. If you listen in to the style of comedy gervais writes you will be on the floor in laughter.

Journeyman
Journeyman finished up a few months ago due to the writers strike but still a series that most people have missed. Journeyman features a police officer who randomly drops in and out of time, each time he 'travels' he is tasked with solving a case in that era which sometimes effects the present. Cleverly done with the character having to hide the secret from as many people as possible and presenting himself in the present as a normal person when he is found absent so often brings out some really creative writing.

Life
I imagine most people have seen band of brothers, the lead character from BoB is also the lead character here(damien lewis). The story follows a cop who was wrongly convicted of murder and put into prison, being a cop in prison he was brutally beaten and he turned to some zen religion for guidance. Released because of poor evidence the first season follows him both working as a police office and him trying to find the person who framed him. Always solving cases with his quirky zen like logic it has a slightly dexteresque type feel to it and is an enjoyable and clever watch.

New Amsterdam
A brand new series only 4 episodes long so far has had a huge impact on me and the people who recommended it. Shaping up to be a really fantastic series it again features a cop, but this time the cop is invulnerable. Alive for 400 years brings police experience to a whole new level, as he solves cases with incredible wisdom. The acting is superb and the episodes features enough gruesome crime fighting and light heartedness to keep things interesting.

Pushing Daises
Another series cut off by the strike, this one is still sitting mid series waiting for some final episodes coming soon. The lead character in this has the ability to bring things back to life, by touching them once. If he touches them again then they die, although if he touches them and lets them live for more then a minute then they are permanently alive and someone else dies in their place. Again the character is a cop and visits the city morgue and awakes dead people just long enough to find who killed them to solve the murder and collect the reward. Although the episodes could be very gruesome, they are actually done very tastefully using cartoony like settings and bright colours everywhere, a very very lighthearted series i can't say its for everyone and can get slow in parts but worth a watch if you have the bandwidth.

Terminator: the sarah connor chronicles
The series started off so well, who doesn't like terminator? now it's hard to say what its trying to do, this time the defensive terminator is a female which is a bit strange and not at all helped by hammy acting. The writing is pretty shit in parts with lots of just 'nothing' conversations about nothing where they all cry how scared they are for ages every episode and then theres a minor scuffle, they always get away, everythings sweet. i'd like to say if you're a big terminator fan you'd love this but it's probably really quite the opposite and doesn't do the quality of the movie series justice.

the fixer
the fixer follows an ex-convict released under the pretense he would work for the state to eliminate people who the police couldn't get rid of. In other words a hitman who uses a variety of methods to make people disappear. Only 2 episodes long thus far it has been pretty interesting and assuming they continue to come up with new ideas could be a keeper. I've found it a bit slow in parts but maybe im just being impatient whilst they build up the intensity before each hit, definitely give it a go -

The Unit
Won't really say much about this one, follows an 'elite special forces team' which sounds cliche but is done surprisingly well. Good fun to watch and is exactly what you would expect from this type of show.

The Wire (season 1)
A very old series that i just got, again featuring police who are trying to bust up a drug syndicate. Using wire taps to listen into conversations the police slowly piece together what they need to make arrests. Facing departmental pressure from above the cops are on a limited timeframe and a short leash to get things done. took me a while to get into but nevertheless worth watching, i will probably get s2 sometime as the story doesn't quit finish ...
