The newly combined xl/mortis team competes in the OGN Ladder finals, with mortis already droppping to the lower bracket xl will be competing from their best position, coming from behind.

Tonight features an epic encounter between 2 of the top teams in cz Australia. The heavy favorites inferno instinct versus the underdogs xl-mortis. xl previously going down to II in a theoretical 2v5 battle and mortis dropping to the lower bracket after extremely strong play by terrorSquad in 4v5 the combined team has a lot to prove. Already in a do or die situation in the lower bracket a loss would remove us from the tournament. Luckily the map is going to be dust2, which is fortuante because inferno happens to be II's strongest map, they have ... instincts on it.

xl/mortis took on crowd favorites elt, who happen to be quite .. elite. On joining we started bantering pizzaboy, who came up with all sorts of witty retorts "ur ugly lolz", and bit at everything we said. Either way pizzaboy had really put some thought into his warmup strategies, holding spawn like tolk's mum holds cake. Thus we started off the match quite scared, dropping the first 5 rounds because we didn't want to leave spawn. When we actually started to move outside we played reasonable, reaxion winning a 2v1 to bring it to 5-1 which sent us on a spree winning the next 9 rounds consecutively. Taking pistols on T just about sealed it, we exchanged a couple of gun runs to close it off 6-4. Huge props to 7levels who chose not to enforce a forfeit after daz caked his octinium reso.

Kingz on mill was interesting, neither side having strats rather relying on aim. Certainly in this department Kingz had the advantage, always fine tuning their skills on maps such as cs_italy in public games. This match also saw the return of 'method' to the cz ladder, probably the sharpest awper in Australia. Although caking a few clutch rounds atomic put up some big numbers, as did method, with the xl contingent carrying the mortis team to an 11-4 T side score. CT side was then fairly routine, winning pistols and the next 2, dropping a round at the mortis defended A site, only to get back on track to clinch it 5-1.

terrorSquad were a formidable team, racking up wins with reckless abandon, in their regular season their 2 wins came from forfeits, but lost every other match that they actually played. Thus our strategies had to be well practiced to even slightly challenge this skilled team. tS had obviously worked on some strats, cleverly pushing all over the place, it was clear that they had put in copious amounts of practice on public servers to produce their style of play. Never-the-less we narrowly took our T side 13-2, and then a corona/drewflex combo on pistols CT side sealed the match 3-0.

In a closely contested final, xl/mortis came back from a map down to steal the title of cz world champions. A lacky nuke saw us drop pistol and consecutive gun rounds CT side, only to recover to 8-7. Unable to break fM's crazy defense due to lack of strategy and teamwork, we dropped all the rounds 0-9.

The pressure was on train, winning pistols was a boost of confidence, only to struggle a bit on the gun rounds. Exchanging a couple of gun rounds, we were stuck on eco at 4:3 up, to have atomic come through and hit 3 deags to shut off the round. From there we powered to a 10:5 half lead. T side went as well as possible, although a few mixups in getting into the sites we managed to scrounge the required rounds to win the match 16-8.

Carrying momentum into inferno we smashed our way through T side, winning almst every 2v2 3v3 situation to clean up 13-2. We then took pistols and the following 1 round, only to get naded and beaten back though smoke to drop to 2-1. We eco'd twice for good measure then sealed the match 16-5. GG to fM well played and better luck next season ;)
